Wesley's First Boo Boo
I was driving home from work on Friday after a really long week. Michelle called all upset that Wesley took a tumble and he had blood all over his face. He had pulled himself up at the tub in their bathroom, and took a step which led him to bumping his mouth on the tub. His upper teeth went through his bottom lip. Chris flew home and they took him to the Emergency Room because they couldn't tell how bad it was. He ended up getting 4 stitches. Here are pics of him the next day. His Aunt T and Uncle Kyle consoled him.
The Pudsie's first stitches...or first scar the ladies will love!
I am not in any pain anymore~and love still being in my jammies!

Hurricane Ike
Hurricane Ike, where do I start??? First off, we are okay and had no damage to our home. So we are told, we lost power at 9:30 pm at our house on Friday, and it was restored on Sunday evening. Kyle is on the Disaster team at work, which means that he must work remote and run the company. Since he is married, he must bring his family and animals. Kyle left for Brenham, TX on Thursday morning (9/11). Brenham...I know what some of you are thinking...the storm hit there as well. Anyways, that whole week before the storm Kyle and I had new tile installed in the house. That Thursday was my day to stay home and have the new carpet laid. We are the only ones in the Houston area that I think had carpet laid a day before a hurricane would hit. We scheduled a month in advance...so who would have known? :) We decided to have it laid, and then Maddie and I would bolt to Brenham to meet up with Kyle, Cooter and Dixie.
Brenham...let me sum it up for you. No food, BUGS, heat, little A/C, BUGS, sharing a bathroom with strangers, a bed to share with Kyle and 3 dogs, BUGS, a tv that didn't work. I literally thought I had reached h~e~double hockey sticks. Did I mention that there were BUGS? I inspected the bed before laying in it and only wore my crocs in the house. Anyways, after not sleeping much, Kyle called me that afternoon from his work center in Belleville to tell me that that ranch house would lose power. WHAT???? If I am going to be without power, I would rather be at my own home. I threw my bags, Maddie and the food I got at the convenience store (choc covered donuts, gummy bears, gobstoppers, crackers and muffins) and drove down that dirt road never looking back. I got to my home and stocked up on more "junk" food that was non perishable and headed to my brother Chris' house to brave out the storm. They had a generator, so I knew I would be in better shape there. And, he boarded the house. Michelle, Chris, Nick and Wesley and I battled Ike together. Our power went out at 2:30 am Saturday shortly after the storm hit Galveston. We were glued to the tv praying to not lose power the whole time. Once the power went out, it was so creepy. Not a word was spoken in the house but text messages going off. I failed to mention that when Kyle got off work that day, he loaded his dogs up and went to Austin to stay with Eric and Vieve. He would have to continue working in Brenham and was scared if he came back home, he may not make it back depending on how bad it hit. So, Kyle watching the storm in between football at Eric's would text me what the storm was doing.
We all really didn't sleep a wink. Chris, Michelle and Wesley were down in their room while Nick and I were in the gameroom. I lay on the sofa praying that everything would be okay. I have never been so scared in my life as the wind whipped the plywood on the windows. It was miserable outside for a few hours before it let up a bit. Wesley slept through Ike completely thank goodness. The next morning I was pleasantly surprised to find my car still in their driveway and intact. Chris' house had little damage as the same as ours. The only thing we could find was our landscape messed up a little. So many houses around us had trees in them, and the list goes on. Chris and I are the only ones with power so far. In our house we have Harold and Shelley staying with us, and Trang. Nana was here last night. We are taking anyone we can to help them out with electricity and showers. My parents are still without, we have no idea how my grandparent's house fared or my great aunt's house. We continue to try to find out but phones haven't been working well or at all. Please keep everyone in your prayers!!!!

San Diego, California
I went to San Diego as my co-worker's guest on the Wells Fargo Awards Trip. We flew up Thursday morning and had such a fantastic long weekend. We went to the San Diego Zoo, ate dinner on the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier, went to the Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, drove the Pacific Coast, and went to La Jolla.

Labor Day Weekend...aka Work Weekend
What??? It was Labor Day weekend recently? Who would have known....as I was working on the house all weekend, only leaving once to eat dinner with Michelle's Mom Mimi and Wesley. Besides working on the house, Kyle and I were attached to the tv praying that Hurricane Gustav wouldn't destroy LA. We were so nervous for all our family and friends there. So far, so good...we hope that everyone's homes were okay. (Don't let Kyle fool you, he watched LSU football and went to the duck lease 3 times...he enjoyed his long weekend! :))
Okay, 25127 Bretonwood is officially haunted by the Sanchez's. Let me tell you that we just bought our 4th lighting fixture for the guest bathroom, yes, number 4. This one had to be special ordered and we won't have it for another 2-3 weeks. I give up. I think this house is haunted because nothing works out to our advantage here. Kyle removed the old light fixture to find that the idiots putting up the old one, well, put a huge hole in the wrong place. They covered the hole with the old light fixture thinking noone would ever find it. Guess what, TIFFANY lives here. She is here to fix all the tackiness and will find everything that was done wrong. So, after scouring Houston, we finally found a light fixture base longer than 28 inches. Let me tell you folks, they don't exist. You are destined to find it in a catalog then.
For everyone that has seen our master bedrooom, it is a massive dull white room with nothing in it but a mattress and a plant stand for a side table. I had college rooms that looked better than this. I decided that since I am waiting on the bathroom situation, I would paint the master. It took me 3 gallons, but the room looks Professional. I think I found my calling....extreme home makeover! :) Even Kyle can't believe how good the room looks. Now, we just need furniture and linens to make the room complete. My next project will be to paint the master bath. :0
After I finished painting the master, I got a wild hair to paint all the baseboards...I touched up all the paint spots on them from the Sanchez's. I can't get over how messy these people were, or learning how anal I really am. HA!
Next week we officially get our new tile and carpet. We are so excited. I pray it comes in because I painted in the master bedroom without a drop cloth! :0 The house is truly coming along and feeling so much like ours and cozier. I can't wait to post before and after pictures. Everyone is going to be shocked!
